So, How Many Horses are there in America?
The current estimate according to a recent study commissioned by the American Horse Council Foundation and conducted by the Barents Group is 9.2 million, this includes both recreational and commercial horses. Out of the grand total 3.91M are used for recreational purposes, 2.72M for showing, 1.75M for other activities including farm work, rodeo, polo, police work etc. and 840K are used for racing. Oklahoma has by far the greatest number of horses per person of any state in the nation.

We have been publishing TulsaPets Magazine in Tulsa since January of 2007, we began publishing OKC Pets Magazine in March of 2014, and we began publishing OklahomaHorses Magazine in March of 2018. All three magazines are published and distributed simultaneously in the odd months (Jan, Mar, May, Jul, Sep, Nov).
The current distribution of OklahomaHorses Magazine is 10,000+ free copies available at more than 270 animal-related and other businesses throughout both major Oklahoma metropolitan areas and spreading statewide. As a statewide magazine, OklahomaHorses Magazine uses many of our established distribution locations concentrated in the OKC and Tulsa metro areas along with horse specific locations around and in between. OklahomaHorses has proven to be an extremely popular periodical across Oklahoma.
Every issue of OklahomaHorses Magazine has an accompanying Online Edition, with links to each advertiser’s website or Facebook page. The Online Edition also has links to a current statewide calendar of horse and community events, subscription and advertising information, as well as updated magazine distribution locations. The magazine has an active and growing Facebook page.
